Budgie Parakeet Feather Health Question?
Budgie question, I have two budgies.. they seem to be in good health, however I have noticed that under their necks, wings, and rump in small areas the feathers look sparce and thin. I’m not sure if this is normal, or maybe it’s a part of the molt process? Although I have not seen loose feathers flying around. I’m a first time budgie owner, and they’re great! I want to be sure they stay happy and healthy, thanks for the help!

This is a big possibility for both situations! He could be molting OR plucking. Take him to the vet so them to the vet so he can really get a good look at them.
In both situations, you can mist them gently wih water 2x a day, and keep their water kept up with Uniprim. A healthy bird supplement you can find in your PetSmart/Petco
it could be a number of things, it could be mites, moulting or inbreeding, no way of knowing from here, but some areas to check if you keep bird paper in the cage look under it when cleaning to see if they are any little red specks which would be mites which are blood suckers, moulting generally happen a few reathers at a time there should be nobare spots, with inbreeding the birds will tend to be small and will at times have bare spots on their bodies.
I had a rose breasted cockatoo that had this and unfortunately, if the feathers continue to fall out, your budgies may have beak and feather disease. This is a genetic condition that is incurable. If the feathers remain, you might like to try puting some small toys or branches in the cage so he doesn’t get bored and pluck his feathers.
