How could i get my parakeet used to new toys?

My parakeet has this one toy, which she ONLY likes, and when i get new toys, or even put a treat inside, she does not get near it, and totally ignores it. i dont know how i can make her used to the toys, or if theyre treats, actually try them, instead of having me throw them out, not even touched by her.

I know someone whose parrot would only play with one toy, - I suppose you might interest the bird in new toys if they included something edible, such as a mirror attached to a corn-on-the-cob, something like that! Otherwise, buy more of the toy that she likes!

Do you take the favorite toy out when you put a new one in? I would try that. My birds like their toys and then I take them out and put all new ones it. It takes a few days before she will play with the new ones. He hardly ever plays with them.

the way i do it is i interchange the new with the old, i take the old out and put the new in
they normally only play with it for about a week or 2 and then they get “bored” with it so thats when i know its time to put a new toy in and take the old one out, and by the time i get back to that origional toy he think’s it’s a brand new toy
do the same thing with ur treats, take the toy out put the treat in for a few days I put a millet spray in with mine and it took him almost a week to even touch it, now he gets one done in less then 3 days and they are the big ones
and they love colorful toys :-)

Got something to say?
