parakeet toys — tell me which ones are a MUST HAVE?
I need to buy toys for my parakeet, but I don’t want to buy something he’s not going to play with very much. Speaking from your personal experience, which parakeet / budgie toys (please be extremely specific!) are a MUST HAVE? And where can I get those particular toys (websites?)? Thanks!

OMG! My parakeet absolutely LOVES these:
Man, it’s been years since I’ve had a parakeet. I remember mine really loved her mirror more than anything and her cuttlefish bone for sharpening her beak. You also have to have the plastic ring chain that hangs down from the top of the cage. She loved climbing on that.
Variety. Variety. Variety. Give choices and change toys out when your bird gets bored with one. My budgie took a while getting around to all his toys, so you don’t have to buy everything at once.
Mirrors and bells are good. ‘Keets do respond to bright colors so plastic rings and balls with bells are rarely neglected. They will squawk at their reflections (especially boys), so be prepared, but it’s still a good idea to have a few mirrors if you only have one bird.
Different diameter perches will cut down on how often you have to trim nails.
The one thing that is absolutely necessary is chew toys. Cuttle bone is such a must have that it hardly qualifies as a toy. It’s best to also have one destructible toy made from wood and something fibrous to rip apart as well.
Petco and Petsmart both have e-commerce sites, but I prefer to shop locally when I can. Even in some rural areas you can find people with both supplies and knowledge.
Mirrors, swings and some of these come with bells. Not to expensive at Wal-Mart. But variety also. Some of mine liked some with colored wood beads and bells, but definately MIRRORS
Mirrors and bells! That’s all my parakeet will play with.
