What should i use to clean my Parakeet’s Toys and Perches?

not real sure what i should use to clean the toys and Perches when i do clean them. I saw you could use 10 percent bleach solution but is there anything else i could use? I don’t really want to use that.

hiya you can use white vinegar dilute 3 parts water 1 part the white vinegar and rinse with plain water thoroughly. dont use bleach its not good for the birds because the bleach brings off a strong odor which can effect the them.

I agree with the bird breeder. Vinegar is a natural chemical, whereas bleach is man-made. Our pet store uses diluted vinegar solutions for cleaning anythign that the animals will be using.

there are sprays you can buy in the store that are specifically used for cleaning bird cages and disinfecting them. also you could use a gentle antibacterial hand or dish soap

DONT USE BLEACH SOLUTION, birds have tiny respitory systems and if you do not rinse off the bleach REALLY well they can die. I have had birds for 5yrs ranging from budgies, canaries, tiel, lovies and parrotlet. What i do to clean: I use vinagear and water works well or you can use a gentle dishwashing liquid like dawn or palmolive work well and are safe. Or you can buy special cleaning sprays from petsmart but i dont want to waste 13$ on a tiny bottle so i use vinagear and water. For the perches i just have a simple household sponge and i put some dishwashing liquid on it and scrub the perch. Works wonders.

I use a product called poop off and it is the best thing I have ever found to clean the cages and everything toys and all . I use it on the perches as well . I clean ,clean ,clean everything once a wk . change their papers on the bottom of the cage every 2 days . You can look at their website . Poop-off.com . it is a really good product .

Got something to say?
